2024 Primary Election

Absentee Voting By Mail

For voters who are eligible for an Absentee Ballot by mail, the ballot can be requested by visiting www.govote.ky.gov or calling the Mercer County Clerk’s Office at (859)734-6310. Mail-in absentee ballots can be requested through the above options from April 6 – May 7, 2024. Voters should not request a mail-in ballot if they intend to vote in person. After the voter has completed their ballot, it can be returned two ways. Ballots can be returned either in-person in the drop box at the Mercer County Courthouse at 207 West Lexington Street in Harrodsburg or through the mail. If returned by mail, the postage on the return envelope should total $1.59. Returned ballots will be processed at the Mercer County Clerk’s Office on Primary Election Day May 21, 2024 until all unprocessed ballots are complete.

In-Person Excused Absentee Voting

Voters who have an eligible excuse may vote absentee in-person excused at the Mercer County Clerk’s Office May 8-10 and 13-15, 2024, 8:30AM-4:30PM in County Clerk’s Office from 8:00am to 4:30pm. No voting Saturday or Sunday.

No Excuse Early In-Person Voting

All voters that are eligible to vote in the May 21st, Primary Election in Mercer County, and have not requested to vote absentee, will be able to no excuse Early In-Person vote on May 16-18, 2024, 8:30AM-4:30PM  at the Mercer County Clerk’s Office at 207 West Lexington Street in Harrodsburg.

In-Person Election Day Voting

All Mercer County voting precincts will be open on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 and registered voters Must vote at their assigned precinct Only. The polls are opened from 6:00am to 6:00pm.

Voter Registration

Registering to vote is easy and convenient!

The following requirements must be met in order to register:

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen and a Kentucky resident for a minimum of 28 days.
  • You must be 18 years of age by the date of the next general election (usually the first Tuesday in November). You are eligible to vote in the May primary election if you will be 18 by the November general election.
  • You must have not been convicted of a felony. If you have been convicted of a felony, your civil rights must have been restored in order to be eligible to vote.
  • You must not have been judged mentally incompetent in a court of law.
  • You must not claim the right to vote anywhere outside of Kentucky.

If you are able to meet the above requirements, you may register to vote by completing a voter registration card and submitting it to the County Clerk’s office. If you prefer, A FORM CAN BE MAILED TO YOU (by requesting it), you can download a form from this website, or you may pick up a form at the County Clerk’s office.
